Italia bound

Welcome to our second family trip to Italy!

This time we arrive in Italy four years later, for the Spring Equinox instead of the Autumn Equinox. We will head south of Rome to explore: Naples, Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Capri and the villages of the famous Amalfi Coast!
We have plans to meet up with some old friends and meet our new ones.  We are stoked to eat some incredible food, drink some legendary bevies, and make some unforgettable memories.

Liam at Cafe Nero in Gatwick Airport

March 7th in Drumbo, Ontario came in like a lion; with torrents of rain and high winds. Two hours before we had to leave for the airport, I got the car stuck in our mud-filled driveway which had turned into quicksand! Hopefully, the weather in Rome will be as gentle as a lamb.

We flew with Westjet from Toronto to Gatwick, in the UK on a 6 hour overnight flight.  Dinner was a big Irish pub meal in Toronto Pearson Airport, so we didn't need to eat a meal again until we got into Rome.  This strategy worked perfectly, as we slept on the plane and arrived at about 9:00 UK time-just in time for breakfast.  We got through UK customs and had time for a nice Italian coffee and pastry for breakfast before catching our 2 hour British Airway flight to Rome.
I just loved Gatwick airport.  It is not so big, and very easy to navigate with a quick train that shuttles you between the two main terminals.  We arrived in Europe without being completely jet-lagged this time, and it made such a positive difference to our travel experience. We intend to use this Toronto to Gatwick flight as our gateway to Europe in the future.

And for now; all roads lead to ROME!
